We support signed NDA agreements, controlled access to technical drawings and mold records, and full project traceability from initial CAD concept to final mass production — helping brands protect exclusive glass packaging designs and market differentiation.

05

Flexible Mold Investment & Order Scaling

Custom glass mold projects can be structured around your launch volume, budget, and long-term packaging demand. We help buyers evaluate trial mold cost, production mold investment, cavity configuration, and per-unit cost impact before committing to mass production — making private mold development accessible for both emerging brands and established wholesale glass bottle buyers.

06

Embossing, Surface Texture & Decoration Engineering

Custom bottle molds are engineered with decoration compatibility from the design stage. Embossed brand logos, raised surface patterns, anti-counterfeiting textures, frosting areas, silk-screen printing zones, and hot stamping positions are built into the mold structure — ensuring your custom glass bottle delivers premium visual identity and consistent decoration quality across large-volume production runs.

How It Works

From Custom Bottle Concept to Mass Production

A clear OEM/ODM development workflow for custom glass bottles, private molds, and export-ready packaging.

01

Concept Review & Technical Drawing

Send us your sketch, reference bottle, brand concept, or packaging requirement. Our engineering team converts your idea into 2D technical drawings and 3D CAD models, defining bottle height, capacity, neck finish, label area, and decoration zone before mold development begins.

02

Trial Mold & Physical Sampling

After the design is approved, we coordinate trial mold fabrication with our long-term tooling partner and produce physical glass samples for review. This stage allows you to test bottle clarity, cap fit, filling accuracy, label application, and overall hand feel before investing in full production tooling.

03

Production Mold & Bulk Manufacturing

Once samples are confirmed, full production molds are prepared for automatic IS glass forming lines. Mold cavity configuration, bottle geometry, glass distribution, and production stability are reviewed to support consistent quality across large-volume custom glass bottle orders.

04

Quality Inspection & Global Delivery

Before shipment, finished bottles go through dimensional checks, visual inspection, stress testing, packing review, and export documentation preparation. Your custom glass packaging is shipped through FOB, CIF, or DDP logistics according to your market requirements.

FAQ

Mold Fees & Transparency

How much does a custom glass mold cost?

A typical custom glass mold set (including sample mold and full mass production tooling) generally ranges from $1,800 to $2,500 USD, depending on the complexity of the bottle profile, the size of the container, and the specific material selected for the mold.

Can I get a refund on my mold fee?

Yes. We support our partners’ growth. When your cumulative purchase order volume for the bespoke model reaches a predetermined quantity (typically 50,000 to 100,000 pieces depending on the project scope), Hualian Glass will credit 100% of the initial mold fee back to your account.

Will you sell my custom design to other clients?

Absolutely not. Every private tooling project is protected under a legally binding exclusivity agreement. Your custom molds are assigned unique internal serial numbers and are strictly locked down for your exclusive purchase orders only.

What if the physical samples don’t meet my quality expectations?

Our pilot sampling phase exists precisely to de-risk your investment. If the trial batch reveals dimensional deviations, surface defects, or functional issues (cap fitment, fill-level accuracy, label adhesion), our engineering team will analyze the root cause—whether it stems from mold geometry, glass distribution, or annealing parameters—and produce a revised sample run at no additional tooling charge. We only proceed to mass production tooling after you sign off on physical samples that meet your specifications.

I don’t have CAD files. Can I still start a custom project?

Absolutely. The majority of our international clients begin their projects with hand-drawn sketches, reference photographs, screenshots, or a physical bottle sample. Our engineering team will convert your concept into professional 2D technical drawings and 3D renderings. For complex geometries, we can arrange a video call to sketch ideas in real-time using screen-sharing design software, ensuring your vision is accurately captured before any mold steel is cut.

What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) after mold development?

Our standard MOQ for custom glass bottle production is 10,000 to 30,000 pieces per production run, depending on the bottle size and complexity. For smaller brands or market-entry test runs, we offer flexible pilot production batches of 5,000 pieces at a modest per-unit surcharge. We understand that new product launches require manageable inventory levels, and we structure our production minimums to accommodate both start-up brands and established enterprises scaling into new markets.

How do you handle design revisions during the project?

Minor dimensional adjustments—such as a ±2mm change in bottle height, a slight base-diameter modification, or an embossing-position shift—are typically accommodated at no extra charge during the CAD and pilot sampling phases. Major geometric redesigns that require re-engineering the mold cavity profile may incur a supplementary engineering fee, which will always be quoted transparently for your approval before any work proceeds. Our goal is to deliver exactly what you envision without surprise costs.

What happens if the mold gets damaged or wears out?

All production molds undergo regular wear inspection and maintenance through our long-term tooling partner after every production campaign. Our cast iron molds have a rated lifespan of 500,000 to 1,000,000 cycles with proper maintenance. Should premature wear or damage occur due to a manufacturing defect within the rated lifespan, Hualian Glass will coordinate repair or replacement of the affected mold cavity at our own cost. For extended production programs beyond the rated lifespan, we offer cost-effective mold refurbishment or replacement with advance notice to prevent any supply-chain disruption.

What payment terms apply to mold and production orders?

Our standard payment structure is a 50% deposit to initiate mold fabrication, with the remaining 50% due upon your approval of physical samples and before mass production tooling begins. For bulk glass production orders, we typically operate on a 30% deposit with the 70% balance payable against shipping documents (Telegraphic Transfer or Letter of Credit at Sight). Long-term partners with established trading history may qualify for open-account terms. All payment structures are documented transparently in our Proforma Invoice.

Can I visit your factory during the mold-making process?

We actively encourage factory visits. Seeing our IS machine lines, glass forming production, and quality-control processes firsthand gives you complete confidence in our manufacturing capabilities. We will arrange airport pickup, hotel accommodation, and a dedicated English-speaking engineering liaison for the duration of your visit. Many of our long-term clients schedule an annual visit to review new product development, discuss upcoming seasonal designs, and inspect ongoing production quality directly on the factory floor.
